At the Cunniff Elementary School, we recognize that everyone has strengths and can contribute to developing our community of life-long learners. In our global economy, our children can be on the forefront of innovation if we provide them the opportunity to understand diverse points of view and develop skills to learn and work side by side with people from many walks of life. We can easily provide them with rich opportunities to learn with and from each other with meaningful, targeted, improvements to their school environment.
The How We Grow Gardens Project allows us to strengthen our literacy and hands-on, experiential, STEAM (STEAM = Science & Technology interpreted through Engineering & the Arts, all based in Mathematical elements) endeavors with our youngest students (especially our ELL students) while instilling foundation skills for economic success in the 21st century.
Through this project we can provide access to cutting edge arts-science educational interventions, enriched outdoor classrooms, and naturalized playscape environments which our current district budget cannot implement.
How We Grow focuses on learning environment enrichment at the Cunniff School through:
1. The Butterfly Reading Garden
2. How We Grow Natural Science Lab
3. Natural Playscape Elements
